ANNOUNCING
PAST LOVES DAY
SEPTEMBER 17
A day to remember and celebrate special past loves
...and to thank them, if just in your heart,
for the gifts of their presence in your life.
Why a Past Loves Day? Well, whether you acknowledge it or not, those you have loved are always going to be a part of you. Even though both of you have moved on in your lives, some of the best of that relationship remains within each of you. So why not celebrate that?
"Valentine's Day" for long ago sweethearts.
It’s not about bouquets of roses or heart-shaped boxes of chocolates.
It is about memories—and feelings.
It is easy, over time, to let precious memories of those you have loved be submerged in the routine of daily life. And it is easy to relax into the cultural expectation to "let go" of the past.
But you do so at a loss. If you do not allow yourself to touch, even for a moment, a memory of a love, you forfeit a chance for a nourishing warmth to flood your heart.
If, however, you open to that flood of warmth, you acknowledge the poignant truth of love and loss. In doing so, you regain your wholeness. You honor, too, the person you remember. Your day becomes brighter.
Past Loves Day is intended to be a time when you say, at least to yourself, that someone still has a place in your heart. So, on September 17, take a moment, within yourself, to remember, to extend good wishes, to give thanks for the gift of someone who was once a special someone. Appreciate the one who walked beside you for part of your heart's journey to where you are now. And, if you are still in touch, why not call or send a card?
